Revenue growth remains at a pleasing level and business retention is strong despite stiff competition in all the markets in which we compete. The quarter saw an unusual number of large losses totalling £46m across the commercial property, fleet, liability and private car accounts. This made for a challenging period but these events happen to insurers from time to time and should not be seen as the start of a trend.

Allianz and FC Bayern have kicked off the ninth Allianz Junior Football Camp this week, offering children from 25 nations the chance to learn and play with the best of the best. FC Bayern will again host the camp on its famous training grounds, this year taking place from August 17 to 22.

Allianz Legal Protection (ALP) has launched a new after the event (ATE) insurance partnership with leading Liverpool law firm EAD Solicitors. ALP will provide ATE insurance for all of EAD’s clinical negligence and personal injury case types.

Allianz Group and Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society (LV=) have agreed to launch a joint venture and a longer-term strategic partnership in the UK, creating a general insurance business with over 6 million customers and gross premiums written in excess of £1.7 billion.

The business played to its technical strengths in underwriting and claims and performed well as a result. GWP is up 0.6% over the previous year and the COR is at a strong 96.2% which means we are delivering in line with our profitable growth objective.
